In 2013, the University of California System decided to replace its legacy mainframe payroll platform, which also managed identities and had been used by all the UC campuses for over 30 years. With a phased approach, UC San Francisco began its IAM provider search in late 2017. One of UCSF’s requirements was that the IAM solution scale as an enterprise system to provide identity services, including password management, for constituents involved in teaching and learning, research, and healthcare. Hitachi ID Systems met the requirements, offered a phased approach, and offered robust professional services for the deployment and management of its solution.
