California Polytechnic State University (Cal Poly) was ranked the number one most innovative school in the West in 2022. However, its legacy data center was far from that a decade ago. Built in 1963, the outdated structure needed multiple upgrades. After thorough research, the team determined that the most cost-effective and efficient option was migrating Cal Poly’s data center and core systems to the cloud. The institution sought state-of-the-art technology solutions and tools and was ultimately impressed with Amazon Web Services, selecting it as its cloud platform.
